Estimator

£45,000 to £50,000 basic, plus car

 

Following a period of continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Estimator for a leading player in the airfield civils, airfield lining, highway civils, and road marking sectors. They are a specialised contractor, servicing major schemes across the airfields and highways for many of the country’s Top 100 contractors nationwide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction, civil engineering, highway, and airfield projects.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project profitability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate cost data.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and analyze historical project data to identify trends and improve future estimates.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and pricing information.
  • Present estimates to clients and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the civil engineering or groundworks industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and labor costs.
  • Proficiency in estimating software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
