About the Role

Forge Technician 
Birmingham
Salary: £55,000 - £59,000 (including shift allowance) + overtime
Shifts: Continental style shift pattern, 4 on 4 off days and nights

A vacancy has arisen within the Forge Department for a Forge Technician reporting to the Production Manager, working on a 4x4 Full Continental shift pattern.


Main Duties:

The safe operation of the forging press, ensuring all outlined requirements related to the product quality and equipment parameters are adhered to.

Carry out tasks in a dynamic, fast-moving environment to enable the full function of presses and charger.

This includes the preparing of furnace charges, material identification, movement, and handling.

Effective communication within the Forge Department, specifically relating to the transfer of product between presses.

Ensuring all equipment is maintained to a standard which enables the business requirements to be achieved.

Emphasis on breakdown elimination and problem solving, along with preventative and non-intrusive maintenance on the Forge.

Fill out required quality paperwork, process sheets and update furnace plans and other requireddocumentation.

Direct input into the continuous improvement culture, which will include individual project ownership.

 

Experience and attributes required:

Aptitude to learn new skills - training provided.

Experience of operating lifiting equipment.

Competence working with heavy machinery.

Ability to safely operate a forklift truck (although FLT training will be given).

Preferably metal manufacturing experience but not essential.

Problem-solving skills.

Good understanding and working knowledge of current safe working practices
