This role will play a key role in ensuring the site is running at optimum efficiency and meeting targets through ongoing planned and reactive maintenance as well as CI/project work.

This role is working on a Panama shift pattern 19:00 – 07:00.  Working only 14 days a month and having 2 weekends free per month.

JOB DESCRIPTION (Maintenance Technician)

A dedicated shift engineer working as part of the resident engineering team on our customer’s new Automated Warehouse system in Joliet, Illinois USA.

 

Undertake breakdown maintenance of site automation as required (OSR system, Conveyors, SDA, TDA, Bagging machines, Photographic stations sortation ramps and all other associated equipment).

Carry out PPM of automation equipment and first line fixes of facilities equipment.

Complete breakdown reports and shift logs including any issues arising on shift which may have had an effect on the performance of the site equipment and / or the maintenance department using the CMMS.

Liaise with the customer operation to ensure workload is prioritised correctly.

Undertake, improvement, repairs, and modifications.

Assist in project installation work including cost reduction activities.

Learn company administrative procedures, and how to complete worksheets, time sheets etc.

Any other duties which reasonably correspond to the general character of this role.

 

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

Completion of allocated planned maintenance activities across site – both electrical and mechanical.

Respond to machine and equipment breakdowns.

Working on conveyor systems, storage retrieval systems, materials handling equipment, sortation equipment with associated electrical controls and any hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

Mechanically, you will have responsibility for reading and interpreting assembly drawings, hydraulic & pneumatic work, working across chains, belts, and gearboxes. Strip, overhaul and rebuild of machinery.

Electrically, fault finding on PLC systems – predominantly Siemens, sensors, inverters, drives, motors, control panels and associated control systems.

Involvement in the ongoing asset care of machinery.

Supporting the site in continuous improvement exercises to look at improvement efficiency and processes.

 

Candidate profile: (Maintenance Technician)

Experience in a relevant industry or service with Automated material handling systems

To be a competent and supportive team member and an independent self-motivated worker

Self-motivated and a proactive approach to problem solving is essential.

Ability to learn and develop on the job.

Ability to work under pressure.

Capacity to work as part of a team and as an individual.

Meeting of agreed performance and targets set.

Ability to work shifts and flexible hours.

 

Experience & requirements for the role:

Previous experience in a Maintenance/Engineering Technician role previously. • Worked within a fast paced, high-volume environment previously – possibly FMCG, automated warehousing, food production, packaging or pharmaceuticals would prove a good transfer.

Qualified engineer/technician.

Eligibility to work in the USA.

Mechanical or Electrical bias.

Worked on PLC systems, sensors, motors, inverters, control panels, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes previously.
