About the Role

Senior Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Runcorn Depot. This pivotal role will see you taking ownership of maintaining and enhancing our mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facility. You will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, rapid response to system breakdowns, defect repairs, and the overall upkeep and optimization of our depot facilities and automation systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing scheduled maintenance on volume picking machinery.
  • Engaging and managing external contractors.
  • Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns during production hours.
  • Assisting in and managing the delivery of Supply Chain technical projects.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Physical Requirements:

This role requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift. You will also need to be able to lift (up to 15kg), bend, twist, kneel, and crouch.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum Level 3 engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical).
  • Proven experience working within a maintenance department.
  • Demonstrable experience working with automated conveyor systems.
  • Strong fault-finding skills within electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience managing a technical team.
  • Experience of working on automation equipment such as Dematic, TGW, Knapp or Vanderlande would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
