Overall Scope:

The role is a senior leadership position responsible for the operational delivery of complex material handling and automation projects. It requires a blend of technical expertise, project management acumen, and strong leadership skills to manage a growing team and diverse range of solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas:

Project Management: Overseeing and directing various projects, likely related to material handling and automation solutions. This would involve planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of projects.

Team Leadership & Growth: Leading and developing a team that is expected to grow to 15-20 individuals.

Installations: Directing and managing installation processes, which suggests hands-on involvement or oversight of on-site deployments.

Design & Implementation: Involvement in the design phase of solutions, followed by their installation.

Material Handling Systems Expertise: Deep knowledge and experience with a range of material handling technologies, including:

ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems): Understanding and managing projects involving automated storage and retrieval.

Crane Solutions: Expertise in crane-based material handling systems.

Pickers: Knowledge of various picking technologies and strategies.

EMR (Exact Mobile Robotics - assumed interpretation): Given the context of material handling, EMR likely refers to mobile robotics or similar advanced automation. (Note: "EMR" can also stand for Electronic Medical Records, but in this context, it's highly improbable).

Power Conveyors: Experience with powered conveyor systems for material transport.

Pallet Storage & Retrieval: Understanding and managing solutions for efficient pallet storage and retrieval. Your Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineering skills and abilities include an understanding of material handling system technology capabilities, operational process flow, new product development, electrical systems and automation technologies, machine-level control and functionality requirements, and the ability to integrate complex systems and ensure their efficient operation.

 

Candidates for the Director of Operations position at will need a comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience in the following areas of warehouse automation:

Warehouse Automation Projects: A proven track record of managing and successfully delivering complex automation projects from inception to completion. This includes project planning, execution, budget management, and stakeholder communication.

Design: Strong capabilities in the design phase of warehouse automation solutions, including conceptualization, layout optimization, and system specification.

Installations: Extensive experience overseeing and directing the installation of sophisticated automation systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards, timelines, and quality benchmarks.

ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems): Deep expertise in the principles, design, implementation, and operation of various ASRS technologies.

Crane Solutions: A solid understanding of crane-based material handling systems, including their application, integration, and operational considerations.

Layer Pickers: Knowledge of automated or semi-automated layer picking technologies and their role in optimized fulfillment processes.

EMR (Exact Mobile Robotics - Industry Context Dependent): Proficiency with mobile robotic solutions (e.g., AGVs, AMRs) and their deployment within a warehouse automation environment. 

Power Conveyors: Comprehensive knowledge of different types of power conveyor systems, their design, integration, and maintenance.

Pallet Storage and Retrieval Systems: Expertise in various methods and technologies for efficient pallet storage and automated or semi-automated retrieval within a warehouse setting.

 

This role demands a candidate who is not only a strong leader but also possesses a robust technical foundation in the core components of modern warehouse automation.
