Forge Technician / RUMX Technician

£54000 - £55000 + Overtime + Specialist Training + OEM Courses
Cruise Control Recruitment have been retained by a global leader in metal production who are seeking a Forge Technician to work within the Forge Department.
Main Duties:
As a forge technician you will be operating the RUMX forge press creating various sizes of metal in billet and square lengths for various aerospace companies.
Responsible for carrying out the maintenance of the RUMX press and associated equipment (including roller conveyors, furnaces, the press and all the hydraulics).
This includes both breakdown, preventative maintenance, and planned maintenance activities.
The press is hydraulically controlled using 4 hydraulic packs each pack consisting of several pumps and hydraulic pressures of 300 bar. Carrying out the maintenance involves isolating the equipment safely to ensure that all stored energy within the hydraulic system is extinguished.
Using SCADA systems on the press to load different programs and to show faults and maintenance tasks.
The safe operation of the RUMX forging press, ensuring all outlined requirements related to the product quality and equipment parameters are adhered to.
Effective communication within the Forge Department, specifically relating to the transfer of product between RUMX and Davy Presses.
Ensuring all equipment is maintained to a standard which enables the business requirements to be achieved.
Emphasis on breakdown elimination and problem solving, along with preventative and non-intrusive maintenance on the RUMX Forge.
Direct input into the continuous improvement culture, which will include individual project ownership.
Experience and attributes required:
Skill base that includes either electrical or mechanical maintenance, ideally an Apprenticeship.
Metal manufacturing technical knowledge and experience.
Problem-solving skills.
Competence working with heavy machinery.
Ability to safely operate a forklift truck (although FLT training will be given).
Conversant with a Total Planned Maintenance [TPM] approach; drive and control systems.
Good understanding and working knowledge of current safe working practices
