Lead Compliance for a Major West Michigan Manufacturer

We are seeking a dedicated Trade Compliance Manager to lead all compliance activities at our key West Michigan facility. This pivotal role requires a focus on detail, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to maintaining our global trade integrity.

The Opportunity & Your Impact
As the Trade Compliance Manager, you will be the final authority on all export and import regulations, directly influencing our international operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Oversight: Own and enforce internal trade compliance policies, ensuring absolute adherence to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations).
- Documentation & Licenses: Manage the lifecycle of all export licenses, exemptions, and exceptions. Ensure accurate and compliant documentation for all international shipments (EEI, Commercial Invoices, AWB, etc.).
- Audit & Risk Management: Conduct regular internal audits, identify potential risks, and implement robust corrective actions and process improvements.
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver essential compliance training and guidance to internal teams (Logistics, Shipping, Legal, etc.).
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor regulatory changes, maintain accurate recordkeeping, and continuously update procedures and controls in coordination with senior leadership.
Qualifications & Expertise
We are seeking a highly specialized professional with a proven track record.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience focused specifically on ITAR and EAR regulations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant trade compliance experience, or an Associate’s degree with 7+ years of specialized experience. (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Strong practical knowledge of international shipping processes and all related export/import documentation.
- Proven experience conducting internal audits and implementing effective compliance programs.
- Expertise in export licensing, classification, and U.S. Customs regulations.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Highly Desired:
- Direct experience working with the U.S. Department of State (ITAR) and Department of Commerce (EAR).
- Familiarity with the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system and other automated trade compliance platforms.
