About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

Optimize plant availability, reliability, and effectiveness. Identify and implement future improvements and maintenance requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve recurring plant issues to maximize uptime. Analyze engineering-based non-standards. Conduct regular reviews of preventive maintenance programs. Ensure safe working practices through Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Implement plant and process improvements. Manage engineering spend effectively. Minimize downtime by ensuring sufficient spare parts. Engage and manage contractors effectively. Understand and comply with environmental and safety regulations. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to maximize opportunities during plant downtime. Identify cost savings through plant improvement and energy efficiency measures.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical proficiency. Minimum of five years' experience in a relevant industry. IOSH certification preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Strong fault-finding and analytical skills. Ability to coach and mentor maintenance staff on technical issues. Proactive approach to identifying and planning work to avoid unplanned outages. Effective communication skills at a technical level with peers and external experts. Ability to produce technical reports on incidents and dangerous occurrences. Experience managing purchase orders and payment authorization.

 

Technical Knowledge:

Comprehensive understanding of hydraulic systems. Knowledge of machinery, including gearboxes, drives, millers, lathes, and bar peelers. Familiarity with test piece furnaces and laboratory testing equipment. Experience with pneumatic systems, cranes and lifting equipment, and PUWER and LOLER regulations. Proficiency in developing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Ability to redesign equipment and implement modern engineering systems/solutions. Competency in AutoCAD and/or Inventor design software.
