Project Controls Commissioning Engineer | Global Automation Leader

Location: UK-Based (with extensive International Travel)

Salary: Competitive (DOE) + Premium Benefits Package

The Mission

As a Controls Commissioning Engineer, you are the bridge between design and reality. You will take ownership of the project lifecycle—from in-house preparation and coding to on-site execution—ensuring our automated systems are delivered with precision, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a high-impact role for a PLC specialist who thrives on seeing complex machines come to life in diverse environments across the globe.

 

Your Responsibilities

Phase 1: In-House Preparation

System Testing: Conduct independent project prep, including switch cabinet and special machine testing.

Process Optimization: Create and refine startup instructions, test protocols, and checklists.

Collaboration: Partner with the PLC development team to support new software iterations and mentor new team members.

 

Phase 2: On-Site Execution

Startup & Configuration: Lead the independent configuration and testing of components at customer sites.

Project Leadership: Coordinate third-party tests, manage daily work processes, and ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines.

Client Partnership: Act as the face of the company, providing expert training to customers and supporting them through the startup phase.

Continuous Improvement: Identify potential system enhancements, document backups, and provide critical feedback to the planning department.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications

 

Technical Core:

Education: Basic technical education (Apprenticeship or Technical College).

PLC Programming: Proven skills in Siemens S7 and TIA Portal.

Systems Experience: Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and general IT proficiency.

 

Operational Mindset:

Resilience: You are comfortable working on-site in unfinished warehouses, dealing with dust, dirt, and temperature extremes.

Global Flexibility: A passion for international travel and a flexible approach to working hours.

Reliability: A track record of meeting deadlines and maintaining quality under pressure.

Communication: The "courage" to address conflicts early and the "perception" to understand customer needs deeply.
